                                    Appearance in Hoover in 2007

(Birmingham-Hoover, AL)- Bruno Event Team announced today that Birmingham-Hoover will not be the site of an AVP Pro Beach Volleyball event in 2007. Since last fall, Gene Hallman, President of Bruno Event Team, along with officials from the City of Hoover, have had discussions with AVP to resolve scheduling conflicts regarding the 2007 dates.

“It is simply a scheduling issue,” said Gene Hallman, President of Bruno Event Team. “We requested the same dates we had in 2006. This year’s dates, July 12-15, will conflict with an Olympic Qualifying Grand Slam event in Berlin. Obviously, all the top professionals must attend an Olympic qualifying event. Efforts were made to have the Berlin dates changed but those efforts were unsuccessful. Our intentions are to host an AVP event next year which is an Olympic year. The popularity of an Olympic sport, like pro beach volleyball, will be at an all-time high in 2008.”

Bruno Event Team and the City of Hoover hosted the AVP Hoover Open presented by Vault last July at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. More than 26,000 spectators came out to see professional beach volleyball players including 2004 Olympic gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. The Men’s and Women’s Finals were both televised on Fox Sports Net.
